What Are These Black Dots?

Bed bugs leave behind fecal spots, which look like small black dots made by a fine-tipped marker. Unlike dirt, these spots will smear if you wet them and wipe them with a cloth. You'll find these dark stains clustered along mattress seams, on the box spring, and anywhere the bugs congregate.
