A common sight for decades, especially in rural areas, loading the kids in the back of a pickup was a normal way to get around. Today, due to the extreme danger of ejection in a crash, most states have laws heavily restricting or outright banning passengers from riding in the cargo bed of a truck. These laws often have exceptions for parades, farming activities, or emergencies.
