In 1974, a group of local farmers in Xi'an stumbled upon one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century while digging a well. They had uncovered the Terracotta Army, a vast collection of thousands of life-sized soldier and horse statues buried to protect China's first emperor in the afterlife.
