From Heisman Glory to Career Backup

Notre Dame's John Huarte never started a single game in the NFL.

After a spectacular senior season at Notre Dame, John Huarte was a second-round pick by the New York Jets in 1965. Despite his Heisman trophy, he was famously beaten out by another rookie QB, Joe Namath. Huarte bounced around six different teams, never starting a game and throwing just one career touchdown pass.
