Zone of Death A 5-mile exclusion zone is enforced by law. The Indian government has made it illegal to travel within 5 nautical miles (9.3 km) of North Sentinel Island. This law is not just to protect outsiders from the tribe, but to protect the tribe from deadly diseases to which they have no immunity.
