In 2006, two fishermen, Sunder Raj and Pandit Tiwari, illegally moored their boat near the island to sleep off a night of drinking. As they slept, their anchor came loose, and their boat drifted ashore. They were promptly attacked and killed by the Sentinelese, their bodies displayed on stakes as a warning.
