The Terracotta Army: An Emperor's Eternal Guard
Thousands of unique, life-sized soldiers built to protect an emperor in the afterlife.
Discovered by farmers in 1974, this army consists of over 8,000 clay soldiers, 130 chariots, and 670 horses. Each soldier has a unique face and was created to guard the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, the first Emperor of China. The main tomb itself remains unexcavated, believed to contain legendary treasures and rivers of mercury.
