The City of Troy: Finding Homer's Legend

Once thought to be purely mythical, the ancient city of Troy was located in modern-day Turkey in the 1870s by Heinrich Schliemann. Excavations revealed nine distinct cities built on top of one another, with layers corresponding to the time of the legendary war. This discovery proved that some of history's greatest stories are rooted in real places and events.
