Brazil's colossal Art Deco statue overlooking a vibrant city.
Standing atop Corcovado Mountain since 1931, this iconic Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ offers panoramic views of Rio de Janeiro. A global symbol of peace and Brazilian identity, the 98-foot tall statue is made of reinforced concrete and covered in thousands of triangular soapstone mosaic tiles. Amazingly, despite frequent lightning strikes, one of which damaged a finger, it has an internal structure allowing access for maintenance.
