The Communist UFO

Perched on a remote mountain peak, this saucer-shaped monument was built by the Bulgarian communist regime in 1981 to commemorate its history. After the fall of the Iron Curtain, the Brutalist masterpiece was abandoned and fell into disrepair. Inside, stunning mosaics of communist leaders are crumbling under a leaking roof, a powerful symbol of a fallen ideology.
