The POW's Blinking Code

In a 1966 televised propaganda interview from a North Vietnamese prison, U.S. Navy pilot Jeremiah Denton was forced to say he was treated well. While on camera, he blinked his eyes in a distinct pattern, covertly spelling out "T-O-R-T-U-R-E" in Morse code. It was the first hard confirmation U.S. intelligence received that American POWs were being tortured.
