Stonehenge: A Neolithic Enigma

This circle of massive standing stones on England's Salisbury Plain was constructed over 1,500 years, starting around 3000 BC. Some stones were transported over 150 miles, an incredible feat of Neolithic engineering. Its exact purpose is unknown, but its alignment with the solstices suggests it was a temple, an observatory, or a sacred burial ground.
