Somatoparaphrenia is a bizarre neurological delusion where a person insists that a part of their own body actually belongs to another person. Typically caused by damage to the right parietal lobe, a patient might genuinely believe their left arm was secretly stitched onto them by doctors. They will routinely invent complex, irrational stories to explain why this foreign limb is attached to them.
