A jet skier's fatal attempt to go over Niagara Falls.
On October 1, 1995, Robert Overacker rode a jet ski over the brink of Niagara Falls in a stunt intended to raise awareness for the homeless. His rocket-propelled parachute was designed to deploy, but it failed, and he plunged to his death. This photograph captures him at the edge of the falls, a moment before the fatal malfunction.
