Taken on October 13, 1972, this photo shows passengers aboard Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571, shortly before it crashed into the Andes mountains. The survivors endured 72 days in the harsh wilderness, resorting to cannibalism to stay alive. Their story of incredible survival was later immortalized in the book and film "Alive."
